Slum-Dwellers

Who are slum dwellers? What do they use to make their houses? What should government do for them?

The poor people who live under tents or thatched-hut in the dirty surrounding of the cities and towns are called slum-dwellers. They are helpless people. They have very low income and cannot manage to live in houses or flats of the cities. They use tent, bamboo fences, jute bags, rags and papers to make their shelter.

They pass a very pitiable life. Their suffering knows no bounds during the rainy season. Rain water enters their shelters and keeps them awake nights after nights. They have no other shelter to sleep in. During the winter season cold air makes their life unbearable. They can hardly afford to buy warm clothes and protect themselves from the biting of the chilly weather.

Government should come forward and rehabilitate them. They are a part of our society. They work for the society. They work for the society. So they have a right to live a comfortable life. The rich can also extend their helping hands in alleviating the sufferings of the slum-dwellers.
